Sculling and Rowing Academy - Winter 2018
What is the Sculling and Rowing Academy?
The Academy is an intensive introduction to sculling for school rowers who have prior experience of sweep rowing or limited experience in a sculling boat. The program is designed to develop technique for sculling in single, double or quad sculls, increase rowing fitness and provide opportunities to row in an eight to maintain and develop sweep rowing technique.
Participants should be a minimum of 14 years old, able to swim at least 50 metres and be of good general health. Sculling requires that you have good strength to be able to lift a sculling boat in and out of the water and be able to turn your head to look behind.
The coaching staff are Ballarat City Rowing Club members who are qualified Rowing Australia coaches with extensive senior school crew coaching experience.
All coaches have a current Working With Children Check and Ballarat City Rowing Club operates under a Child Safe Policy
The program runs for four months from April 21st to late August as preparation for the school rowing season and costs $100. This cost covers all coaching and equipment and can be paid via the Membership web page.
The Academy commences Saturday 21st April at 8am to 10am at Ballarat City Rowing Club
